BABEL TOKEN Legal Notice

Effective: 2026-09-13

1. Cryptographic implementation

BABEL TOKEN uses industry-standard cryptography to protect your data on device, implemented entirely with Apple system frameworks (CryptoKit, CommonCrypto and the Security framework). It contains no home-grown cryptography and bundles no third-party cryptographic libraries. The full list of algorithms and their purposes is in the in-app "Encryption & export compliance" page.

2. No absolute security

Encryption raises the cost of attack considerably, but no software provides absolute security. We make no warranty or representation that BABEL TOKEN, your device or your data cannot be compromised.

3. Data can be lost permanently

BABEL TOKEN's design makes it impossible for MNV LIMITED to read your data. That is deliberate, and it has a cost: if the encryption key held in your device's Keychain is lost — for example on a new device restored without it, or after strict mode was on — and you have not set a master password or recovery phrase, no one can decrypt your secret values. A backup file you exported is the only way back. By using the application you acknowledge and accept this trade-off.

4. Backups are your responsibility

Export backups regularly, keep them somewhere the phone is not, and if you set a recovery phrase keep it written down offline. We cannot reconstruct anything you lose.

5. Export control

BABEL TOKEN contains encryption functionality and is subject to the US Export Administration Regulations. The application is self-classified as ECCN 5D992.c under Note 3 to Category 5 Part 2 (the mass-market note) and requires no export licence. You may not use it in embargoed or sanctioned regions.

6. Not professional advice

The hygiene score, rotation reminders and any other hints the app presents are general guidance derived from information you entered. They do not check anything with a provider and do not constitute professional information security advice. Consult a qualified professional for your specific needs.

7. Third-party names and the provider catalogue

OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, GitHub, Amazon Web Services, Stripe and the other service names, initials and key patterns that appear in the app are used solely to identify which service a key belongs to. All such names are trademarks of their respective owners. MNV LIMITED is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any of them, and a provider's presence in the catalogue does not mean it endorses this app. Catalogue details are compiled from public documentation and may be out of date.

8. Third-party software

BABEL TOKEN bundles no third-party libraries; it is built only with Apple's SDKs, so there are no open-source components to acknowledge. Two publicly published word lists are used unmodified: the EFF long word list (Electronic Frontier Foundation) for generated passphrases, and the English BIP-39 word list for recovery phrases.

9. Apple trademarks

Apple, iPhone, Face ID, Touch ID, iCloud and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. BABEL TOKEN is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Apple Inc.
